Blog#2

The Sustainability of The American Dream manifests throughout our book and through many characters. Jende believes he can get a good job and pave his son’s future. Neni believes that if she works hard while going to school she can eventually go to pharmacy school. She dreams of going to pharmacy school so she attends college and works to pay bills. They both make enough money to have a great life in America. They believe together they will make their son’s future easier than how they had it.
Jende talked a lot about how his father was nothing and he would be too. Clark almost followed his father’s footsteps to become a professor. They both took their own paths to better their future. Jende always keeps in mind how he wants his son to have many opportunities unlike he did. His goal is to give him everything and let him decide what he does with it.
The whole book seemed to have the essence of the American Dream. Most of the characters worked to get to where they are today. They all accomplished things while in
America. Everyone has their own dreams and goals but they were all attainable because they were in the land where everything is possible. The American Dream means that anyone can do anything they put their heart to.
People today think that the American Dream doesn’t exist. It is still alive and well. Many immigrants still believe in it, as they move to America to pursue their dreams. They come to America in the hopes for a better life. Many of them are given more opportunities than they would have ever seen back in their hometowns. America helps everyone become someone.
