This song "Changes" by the artist Tupac is a good description of the sustainability of the American Dream because it mentions what many Americans go through. This can be conflicts because of their income as well as because of the color of their skin. I agree with everything that this song states because he is telling the truth of the situation of the country. He talks about some of the issues back then, but most of those are still relevant to this day. Most of those issues apply to both immigrants and US citizens.
This entry correlates with the book Behold the dreamers in the way that the song explains a lot of the social and cultural differences between races. It also mentions all that people have to do in order to be able to be "sustaining" their American dream. Although it doesn't correlate word by word about what the characters in the book go through, you can see the connection and comparison through the different examples mention in the song. When the artist says "We gotta make a change, it's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes. Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live and let's change the way we treat each other. You see the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do hat we gotta do, to survive", he is referring to those in rough neighborhoods. Yet this quote can be applied to immigrants that want a change from their home country, and that are willing to do what ever it takes to make a better life for their families.
