family and belonging

Family and belonging
Belonging is a sense of fitting in or feeling like you are an important member of a group. Where as family is the people closest to you and you can always count on them having your back. They go together all throughout this book weather it was with the Jongas or the Edwards. Each family has different types of family and belongings or neither at times in the book.
The Jongas remain anchored in an unfamiliar land by remaining closely connected to friends and family from Cameroon. The difference between the families is that the Edwards didn’t really have this sense of family and belonging. This is because the family was all out of wack and they didn’t really have a tight family because the son wanted to leave to India and the dad was cheating on the mom. So one family was really close and one not so much.
